6th Grade's Autobiographical Poems
created using Microsoft PowerPoint
An autobiographical poem is personal- it reveals something about the person writing the poem. It does not have to rhyme. The 6th grade class wrote autobiographical poems using Microsoft PowerPoint. The students changed the size, style, and color of their poems. Some students implemented WordArt to their slides. In addition, each student customized their own background with gradients and/or pictures. Upon completion of this project the students added custom animation. 7th Grade's Diamante Poem
created using Microsoft Word & Audacity
The 7th grade class did an excellent job creating their own poetry. They followed the sequence of what is called a Diamante Poem, a seven line poem that takes the shape of a diamond. The first and last word in a Diamante poem convey opposite meanings or ideas. This type of poem allows the students free reign to bring out their creativity. We also added a little twist, instead of YOU reading our poems we decided to read them for you by creating a podcast.

8th Grade Blogging in the Classroom
created using edublogs.org
The 8th grade is creating an interactive community by blogging in the classroom. Blogging is used to offer students new information and other’s perspectives; they can interact and have discussions with other students. Students will be using this blog to respond to information they have read or new information they have learned. The students are in pairs and pick their own topic to blog about. The students will be gathering information and research topics to share on the blog. Peers and other will then respond to their comments, resulting in a conversation in which participants learn from each other.
